I just “passed by” my personal web site and noticed my pictures were not displaying.  Then I quickly remembered that it uses a Flickr API to get my SuperFavs Photoset to display using PictoBrowser.  And, those API’s are down right now, while Flickr does some maintenance.  Why did I know that…?  I knew that because I subscribe to the FlickrBlog, for that very reason, so I can know or find out about things like that.

That’s a good reason to use separate services for something like a blog or a network status page.  It’s a good communication hack work around.  (Flickr happens to use TypePad.  You can tell from the favicon on their blog and also the references in the blog’s page source.)
